"Nebenan" is a quiet yet humorous film about recognizing the people around us. It intertwines intimate and light-hearted snapshots of Christine (68), Johanna (19), Nico (32), Hans (56), and Paul (7) in their everyday lives, underlining how they could hardly be more different.

With empathy and vulnerability, we can recognize ourselves and begin questioning the reality of how we live in a big city - does our urban proximity translate into the social interactions we hope for?
